Welcome to the LUMS Young Writers Workshop
Circa 2012 - Present
Founded in 2012 by novelist and translator Bilal Tanweer, along with Osman Khalid Waheed, President of Ferozsons Pharmaceuticals, the LUMS Young Writers Workshop (LYWW) began with a vision to nurture young literary talent in Pakistan. Since its inception, the workshop has evolved significantly, producing many success stories. Today, it proudly boasts over a hundred alumni, many of whom have forged successful careers in writing and related fields. Read more about our alumni.
LYWW stands out as the only creative writing workshop in Pakistan that offers a fully-funded residential experience to all participants. This year, we are pleased to offer six themed fiction workshops conducted by LYWW alumni, and a genre-specific workshop in Nonfiction Writing. See our past guest speakers.
Each workshop will select five writers through a nationally advertised short story contest, except for the Nonfiction workshop, which will accommodate eight participants. Selected participants will be invited to spend five days at LUMS, with all expenses for tuition, accommodation, meals, and reading materials covered by the workshop. Participants will need to cover their travel expenses.
